House Moritani was a House Major during the time of the Faufreluches. Their ancestral home was the planet Grumman. House Moritani had a long-standing feud with House Ginaz, which eventually saw the latter defeated in a War of Assassins.

Expanded Dune

House Moritani emerged during the Battle of Corrin (88 BG), when House Corrino ascended to become the first Padishah Emperor. House Moritani had fully supported the Corrino plans. Shesuet Corrino, acknowledging the Moritani contribution to his cause, granted his Moritani allies a Viscount title and the planetary fief of Grumman. Consequently, House Moritani has remained a loyal ally of the Corrino Empire. ‡

Details on House Moritani are scant in Frank Herbert's original Dune novels. However, some of their history is given in the prequel novels by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
In the prequel novels, House Moritani is portrayed as a wild card that doesn't follow accepted rules. They especially don't follow the Emperor's orders.
